What a great day! In November 2014 we planted 45 fruit trees - apple, pear and plum - in a new orchard for the village.
The sunshine was obviously planned. So many people came to plant trees (over 90 friends and families) we could have planted at least two more orchards!
The first tree was planted by Ron Wood, age 94, who remembers scrumping apples and playing in orchards in the village when he was child. There are some apple trees in gardens around the village that are over 100 years old. Planted on land owned by the Stewart Village Hall Trustees we hope this community orchard will mature for decades to come.
