What is perry you might ask? Simply put, the fermented juice of the pear, made from special pear varieties with a long and distinguished history. It stands alongside cider as its lesser-known cousin, and originates in the traditional perry counties of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire. In its finest sparkling forms it shares much in common with Champagne in terms of style, structure and method of production, offering a similar balance of freshness and finesse.

On the night you will taste eight commercial perries, mostly from the three counties heartland. The tasting will be interspersed with two short talks, including an introduction covering the unique qualities of the perry pear, how perry is made, and what makes it so distinctive. We'll also have nibbles to whet your appetite, pears and pear juice and a prize to be won!

This event will appeal to anyone with an interest in apples and pears, as well as those who enjoy fine cider, perry or champagne. Over 18s only.

Tickets are £20 per person and are available from Brightwell Village Stores or by emailing: villageorchardgroup@gmail.com
