Hidden dens in the orchard

We found this great den in the big wooded hedge in the orchard in the winter. It must have taken ages to build and plenty of skill and tenacity. There seems to be more construction going on in the wild wood too.

An orchard for a village

I am very much in favour of community orchards: they help link people to the land and where food comes from, and when the orchard is fully mature in fifty to a hundred years it could be of great biodiversity value if managed appropriately. Dr Stephen Head
