On Saturday 4th February we planted three new trees in the community orchard; to replace the two that were vandalised and one that wasn't thriving. As it's that time of year we also pruned the trees.
Clearly there were plenty of people in the village who wanted to learn how to prune their fruit trees. 36 people turned up with their secateurs! Paul Chilton, our fruit tree expert, gave a masterclass about pruning apples, pears and plums. Once we had seen how it was done we were let loose to prune the 45 trees!
Do you have an old tree in your garden that doesn't produce much fruit and is full of branches? We can show you how to hard prune and rejuvenate it for many more years to come. Preserving carbon capture the easy way. Just drop us a line and we can arrange to visit and see what you have - villageorchardgroup@gmail.
