Just an hour before the end of school, a box of Laxton's Fortune apples and a box of Victoria plums were picked in an orchard in the village by members of Brightwell Village Orchard Group to give to the children.
In 2010 Paul Chilton donated 5 apple trees to start a school orchard. Each class is now known by one of these varieties; Discovery, Pippin, Bramley, Worcester and Russet.
